Brazilians Protest Lack of Black Models

May 30, 2012

Brazilians protested the lack of black models walking in Rio de Janeiro Fashion Week. They demand that at least 10% of models in a country where over half of the population is Afro-Latino. Last year the demand was 20%.

The protests were led by the NGO Eduaro committed to ensuring dual employment opportunities for blacks and Indians. Black models male and female were almost entirely excluded from this fashion week.
